Counselling
Individual Counselling is a one to one 60 minute session between the therapist and the client. I have worked with several issues in one to one sessions. Examples of such issues are anxiety, depression, eating disorders, stress, work issues and relationship issues among others. Whatever it is said in session is confidential between client and therapist. Nonetheless, there are situations where confidentiality is broken. These situations are the following; where there are situations of harm to self or harm to others; in case of minor abuse and in the case of criminal activity. In such situations, I am bound by law to report if any information emerges during sessions. I also attend supervision sessions myself and situations, not clients, are discussed during my supervision sessions.

Individual counselling is very rewarding for me as a therapist. I focus mainly on building a very good relationship with my client. This relationship is based on trust, good communication, empathy and unconditional positive regard. Clients are never judged. They are encouraged to embark on a journey of self exploration in order to find who they really are and what they really want and also try to make the necessary changes in their lives in order to achieve a more peaceful and productive way of living. I fully believe in client empowerment and any decisions taken during sessions are done so by the clients and not by myself. It is a journey that takes time. Self revelation requires commitment and hard work and clients get the chance to discuss and reflect on issues that they are currently facing in a safe space. Changes occur when they feel ready and strong enough to undergo them. Together we celebrate even the minor of improvements and work harder on those little stumbling blocks that we face each and every day. Clients are coming to terms with the fact that reaching out for help does not equal an illness but they are viewing this phenomena as a lifeline to a better way of life.

Skype sessions are also offered on an individual basis.
